NAS Server Sync File (FRANCESTLE)

Enabling the Service

To enable Shared Folder Sync:

You must enable the service on the destination Synology NAS first.

  1. Go to Control PanelFile Services > rsync.
  2. Tick Enable rsync service.
  3. Click Apply.

 

Managing Sync Tasks

To create a sync task:

  1. Sign in to the source Synology NAS(the one with the files to copy )and go to Control PanelFile Services > Advanced > Shared Folder Sync > Task List.
  2. Click Create.

  1. Click the Task List button and press Create. Select the source shared folder you want to copy.(  If the directory/file names match with the destination, they will be renamed so they don’t clash with the sync process.)

select the Next button. In sync destination screen, the Synology should automatically detect the new Synology on your network, so you can simply select that and enter your login credentials.(Use the NAS admin logins – Destination )

The files and folders will automatically start syncing over the network to the new NAS. If you add files later to the source, those will also get automatically copied across to the destination.

To create a sync task:

  1. Enter the IP address or QuickConnect ID, username, and password of your Synology NAS.
  2. Select Sync Taskand click on Next.
  3. Check the path of the local and remote folders you want to sync. Click on Changeto select different folders for syncing.
  4. Select Enable On-demand Syncto reduce computer capacity consumption and overhead on the server.
  5. Click on Advancedto further modify the following sync settings:
    • Specify folders and files you don’t want to sync in Folderand File Filter:
      • Max file size: Any files larger than the size specified here will not be synced.
      • File name: Any file with the designated file name will not be synced.
      • File extension: Any designated file extension will not be synced.
    • Configure the advanced sync options in Sync Mode.
      • Sync direction may be two-way sync, one-way data download from the server, or one-way upload. You can later change this configuration in Sync RulesSync Mode by clicking on the task.
      • For One-way uploadtasks, unselect Keep locally deleted files on the server if you want to also delete the items on the server when they are deleted on the computer.
      • Select Enable On-demand Syncto reduce computer capacity consumption and overhead on the server.
      • Unselect Enable advanced consistency checkif you want to reduce the time and system resources required in file comparison. Please note, when this option is unselected, the accuracy of file comparison is reduced.Click on Done.
